RESULT
A remote interviewee appeared in the studio as a life-size hologram, letting host and guest talk, gesture, and shake hands in real time despite being far apart.

The brief

Xinhua wanted to conduct an interview where a remote guest would appear in the studio not on a screen, but as a life-size 3D hologram — reconstructed in real time and standing beside the host as if physically present. The experience had to feel natural: host and interviewee needed to talk, gesture, and even shake hands across the distance, carried over 5G in 4K quality.

What we did

We captured the remote interviewee and reconstructed them as a real-time, life-size 3D human presence, transporting the holographic 4K signal over a 5G link into the studio. In the studio, the guest appeared as a hologram standing with the host, so the two could face each other, hold a natural conversation, and interact — gesturing and shaking hands — as though sharing the same room.

Holding this together in real time is the hard part: the reconstruction, the 5G + 4K transport, and the studio presentation all had to stay in sync so the interaction never lagged or broke the illusion. Our capture crew and transport engineers held the pipeline stable throughout, keeping the hologram life-size, responsive, and convincing for the length of the interview. Every stage was rehearsed and tested before recording, because an effect like this only works if it holds without a stumble — a single dropout or lag would break the sense that the guest was really there, so we built in the redundancy and monitoring to keep the presence solid from the first exchange to the last.

The result

For Xinhua, a remote guest stepped into the studio as a life-size hologram and spoke with the host in real time, the two shaking hands across a distance that no longer showed. By combining real-time 3D human reconstruction with 5G + 4K holographic transport, the project delivered a remote interview that felt genuinely face-to-face — a widely noted demonstration of what 5G holographic communication makes possible.
