8K Live Streaming for the China–U.S. Young Maker Competition Final

The brief

The 2020 China–U.S. Young Maker Competition held its national final in Wuhan, and the pandemic meant judges and audiences could not gather on site. The organisers needed a genuine 8K live broadcast of the final, plus a dedicated feed clean enough for judges to score each team remotely. With travel restricted, the picture quality had to carry the detail of every prototype and presentation as if the judges were standing at the table.

What we did

We delivered the final as a live 8K broadcast, deploying an 8K multi-camera setup to cover the competition floor, the teams and their presentations at once. The 8K signals were encoded in real time and carried live, with a separate online-judging feed routed to remote judges so they could evaluate each entry in ultra-high definition. A technical director cut the program feed while engineers held redundant encoding and transport paths ready throughout. Every camera position and every link was tested before the final began, because a national competition final gives you one chance to capture each team's moment. The production kept the on-site footprint small to respect pandemic distancing while still covering the event in full.

The result

A stable, genuine 8K live broadcast of the national final, with a clean judging feed that let remote judges review each team's work in real ultra-high definition despite being off-site. Multi-camera 8K coverage brought the competition floor, the teams and their presentations into a single program, and the 8K masters were retained for on-demand use. For a final that could not gather everyone in one room, the broadcast put the full detail of the event in front of judges and audiences wherever they were.
