Production Fixers & Bilingual Crew Support in China
The support layer around your shoot in China — fixers, permits, location access, gear rental and logistics handled before you land.
If you are a production company, broadcaster or in-house video team planning to film in China, the hard part is rarely the filming — it is everything around it: permits, location access, gear rental, transport, and working across a language barrier on a schedule. BTVS Production provides vetted local crew and bilingual fixers who make your days in China run like your days at home.
BTVS Production provides vetted bilingual camera crews in China, including Directors of Photography, camera operators, sound recordists, drone operators, production assistants and English-speaking fixers in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou and other major Chinese cities.
Hire a single camera operator to shoot for your remote director, a full documentary crew with sound and lighting, or a bilingual fixer/producer to advance locations and handle logistics before your team arrives. We staff productions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou and anywhere in between — one contact, one English contract, wherever the story takes you.
Our crews work regularly with international broadcasters, agencies and corporate teams, so they know the etiquette of a visiting production: label everything, roll early, protect the schedule, and flag problems before they become problems.
Capabilities
Directors of photography & camera operators
Experienced shooters on cinema and broadcast bodies (Sony, Canon, ARRI ecosystems), used to working with remote or visiting directors.
Sound recordists
Location sound with boom, wireless and timecode sync — clean dialogue even on loud factory floors and trade-show aisles.
Bilingual fixers & field producers
Location advance, scheduling, interview wrangling, on-set interpreting and daily problem-solving in fluent English and Chinese.
Licensed drone pilots
Aerial filming with airspace and location permissions arranged in advance — critical in China, where rules vary by city and district.
Gear rental & kit matching
We source camera packages, lenses, lighting and grip locally to match your existing footage and codecs — no flight cases through customs.
Permits & location access
Filming permissions for venues, streets, industrial sites and events, arranged through the right channels and with realistic timelines.
Remote-directed shoots
Your director joins by live video feed and talks to a bilingual crew; footage uploads the same day.
Transport & logistics
Crew vans, intercity travel, accreditation and shipping — the unglamorous work that keeps shoot days on schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Can foreign media film in China?+
Yes, with the right preparation. Requirements differ for journalistic versus corporate/commercial filming, and by location. Our fixers advise on what your specific shoot needs and arrange the necessary permissions — tell us your format and we will map the path.
Can your crews work with a remote director?+
Yes, this is now one of our most common setups. We provide a live video feed from set, the crew takes direction in English, and footage is uploaded the same day for your editors.
What camera systems do you have?+
Sony FX/Venice ecosystems, Canon C-series and ARRI packages via our rental partners, plus full lighting, grip and audio. Tell us the codec and look you need to match and we will build the kit list around it.
Do your crews speak English?+
Every booking includes at least one fluent English speaker — usually the producer or fixer, often the DP as well. Your team never has to communicate through gestures.
Which cities can you cover?+
Resident crews in Beijing and Shanghai, established teams in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hangzhou, and travel crews for anywhere else in mainland China.
How fast can you mobilize?+
In major cities we can usually field a crew within 48–72 hours. Complex shoots involving permits and multiple locations need one to three weeks of lead time depending on access.
